Spokane, WA – A convicted felon was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly firing a gun during a confrontation outside his RV in north Spokane, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies recovered multiple firearms and ammunition from the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:50 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025, to reports of gunfire in the 5100 block of North Havana Street, just south of East Queen Avenue. The caller told deputies he drove to the suspect’s RV to pick up his girlfriend when 73-year-old Brian K. Reed allegedly pointed a firearm out of the window and fired, shattering the driver’s side window of his vehicle. The victim was not injured.

Deputies launched a drone to monitor the scene and later arrested Reed without incident. A woman inside the RV told investigators she heard Reed say he was grabbing his gun before a loud bang. She was not injured and was released without charges.

Reed, a convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms, initially denied firing a gun but admitted to having pellet guns and an old revolver inside the RV. A search warrant led deputies to five firearms, two pellet guns, three BB guns, live ammunition, and three spent .22 caliber casings, including one near the window where the shot was allegedly fired.

Reed was booked into the Spokane County Jail on felony charges of first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
