Spokane, WA – A Spokane County man was arrested Tuesday evening following a four-hour armed standoff with deputies and a SWAT team, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 2:05 p.m. on September 15 to the 11500 block of North Kathy Drive after reports of a man armed with a shotgun who allegedly threatened to kill his neighbor. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jeremy S. Patterson, allegedly shouted threats before retreating into his home and reemerging with a firearm.

According to deputies, neighbors also reported hearing gunshots at Patterson’s residence in recent days and raised concerns about his mental health. Patterson allegedly had access to multiple firearms and threatened to shoot law enforcement if they attempted to enter.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that after several failed attempts to negotiate, SWAT members breached a door around 5:45 p.m. and observed Patterson allegedly pointing what appeared to be an AK-47 rifle at them. Deputies deployed chemical irritants before continuing negotiations.

By 6:15 p.m., Patterson surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody. Investigators later seized 14 firearms from the residence, including the AK-47 and shotgun, both loaded.

Patterson was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges including felony harassment-threats to kill, nine counts of second-degree assault, and intimidation with a weapon.

Authorities emphasized that no deputies, neighbors, or the suspect were injured during what they described as a “dangerous and potentially deadly incident.”
