Spokane, WA – A passenger allegedly threw food at a driver and yanked the steering wheel during an argument Tuesday night, causing a crash on E. Farwell Road, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the single-vehicle wreck around 8 p.m. on October 29, 2025, near N. Meadowlark Street. Investigators say the incident began as a verbal argument between 47-year-old Mark L. Williams and the female driver. During the dispute, Williams allegedly hurled food at the victim and then grabbed the steering wheel, forcing the vehicle off the roadway.

The car struck a street sign and a fence before coming to rest, deputies said. The vehicle sustained heavy engine damage and leaked a large amount of oil.

Two adult female passengers were in the car at the time. Fortunately, deputies said none of the victims appeared to have suffered serious injuries.

After being medically evaluated at the scene and cleared at a hospital, Williams was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail. He faces one felony charge of Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree (DV) and multiple misdemeanors, including Assault in the Fourth Degree (DV) and Reckless Endangerment (DV and non-DV).
