Spokane Valley, WA – A Spokane Valley man was arrested Friday after deputies used license plate recognition technology and help from a local recycler to identify him in connection with a $7,000 air conditioning theft.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a business on North Argonne Road around 1:20 p.m. on December 5, 2025, after someone reportedly tore apart the exterior air conditioner unit, stealing internal parts believed to have been sold for scrap.
During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Joshua M. Myers, allegedly arrived at the business in a cream-colored Cadillac, dismantled the air unit, and left the scene with the stolen components.
A local recycler later confirmed Myers had scrapped air conditioner parts matching the description and provided his vehicle and personal information to investigators. Deputies entered the Cadillac’s license plate into an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system, which alerted officers the following day.
At about 2:15 p.m. on December 6, a regional emergency officer reported an ALPR hit showing Myers’s Cadillac traveling on North Argonne Road. Deputies intercepted him minutes later at his last known address and took him into custody.
Myers allegedly admitted to taking the parts and selling them for cash. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on two felony counts: Malicious Mischief in the First Degree and Trafficking Stolen Property in the First Degree.
Court records show Myers’s bond was set at $2,500, marking his fifth booking into the Spokane County Jail since 2024.
