Marseilles, IL – Families planning to cool off at Broadway Park’s splash pad this week will need to make alternate arrangements.
The City of Marseilles announced that the popular splash pad will be closed beginning Wednesday due to necessary repairs to the underground plumbing system.
According to the Marseilles Public Works Department, the closure, which began June 12, will involve the removal and replacement of the existing concrete pad. City officials have not yet confirmed a reopening date and stated updates will be provided once more information is available from the contractor handling the work.
“The City of Marseilles apologizes for this unfortunate inconvenience,” the department said in a statement shared by the Marseilles Police Department.
No estimate was given for how long the repairs would take, but officials noted that the closure is essential to ensure the long-term safety and functionality of the park’s water feature.
Broadway Park’s splash pad is a popular summertime destination for families in the region, especially during heatwaves. This unanticipated closure could impact community recreation plans, particularly as temperatures rise across LaSalle County.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the City of Marseilles’ official social media channels for real-time updates regarding the project and reopening timeline.
