According to Indiana State Police Jasper Post, Trooper Jon Villanueva was patrolling US 231 near Dale on Friday, February 27, when he stopped a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado for speeding.
Police said Trooper Villanueva made contact with the driver, identified as Alejandro Avila, 34, of Evansville. While speaking with Avila, the trooper reportedly observed visible signs of impairment.
Avila was transported to the Dale Police Department for a chemical test, according to state police. After testing, Avila was arrested and taken to the Spencer County Jail, where he is being held on bond.
