Madison, WI – Residents across Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and several northern states may witness the Northern Lights tomorrow night. The forecast shows potential aurora activity reaching far into the Upper Midwest and Pacific Northwest.

According to NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center, heightened geomagnetic activity (Kp 4) is expected to produce the aurora. The best viewing times will be from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Central Time. The display may be visible as far south as the northern portions of these states.

Experts advise viewers to find dark, open spaces away from city lights to maximize visibility. The aurora may not be directly overhead but will likely appear on the northern horizon if conditions are right.

The aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, occurs when charged solar particles interact with Earth’s atmosphere, producing vibrant displays of green, red, and purple light. If weather cooperates, this spectacle will be visible across Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Washington. Keep an eye on updated aurora forecasts throughout the evening for the best chance to witness this celestial event.
