Melbourne, FL – A warm, pleasant fall day is unfolding across east-central Florida, but beachgoers should remain cautious as a moderate risk of rip currents continues along all Atlantic beaches. After some early morning fog, skies are clearing with sunshine and seasonably warm air returning by midday.

According to the National Weather Service office in Melbourne, light and variable morning winds will become easterly around 10 mph as an inland-moving sea breeze develops this afternoon. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s for most inland areas, while coastal spots along Volusia County will stay closer to the low 80s thanks to the onshore flow. The NWS cautions that the comfortable weather can be deceiving for swimmers, as 2- to 3-foot surf will maintain a moderate risk of life-threatening rip currents at Daytona, Space, and Treasure Coast beaches.

Forecasters recommend always swimming near a lifeguard and avoiding entering the water alone. Even experienced swimmers can be pulled offshore by stronger currents that develop with the afternoon tide. Conditions will remain fair through the evening, with just a few isolated showers possible south of St. Lucie and Martin counties later today.

According to meteorologists, similar weather is expected Wednesday and Thursday, with highs holding in the 80s and light sea breezes each afternoon. The pattern remains dry until late in the week, when moisture increases slightly along the Treasure Coast.

Overall, today offers another quintessential Florida fall afternoon—warm, bright, and breezy—with the main concern remaining the surf hazards along the Atlantic beaches.
