Phoenix, AZ – The Southwestern United States is expected to see a shift toward cooler, breezier, and occasionally damp conditions from October 24 through October 28, 2025, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6–10 day outlook. The forecast calls for below-normal temperatures across much of Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico, with a few rounds of light rain possible in some areas.

According to NOAA’s update issued October 18, an upper-level trough sweeping in from the Pacific will bring a noticeable cooldown to the interior Southwest. Daytime highs across southern Nevada and northern Arizona will likely dip into the 60s and low 70s, while higher elevations—such as Flagstaff and northern New Mexico—may only reach the 40s and 50s.

Precipitation chances are expected to increase slightly late in the period as the system moves inland. Light rain showers and gusty winds are possible in parts of southern California, Arizona, and western New Mexico, while mountain peaks could see the season’s first light snow. Most areas, however, will remain drier than average overall.

Meteorologists note this pattern represents a seasonal transition typical of late October, with cooler Pacific air beginning to edge into the desert Southwest. The change offers a welcome break from the region’s prolonged warmth earlier this month.
