Somerset, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 a.m. to noon Sunday for Somerset County, where a light wintry mix is expected to create slick and hazardous road conditions, especially in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, precipitation will begin before dawn as freezing drizzle and light sleet, producing a thin glaze of ice on roadways, bridges, and sidewalks. A dusting to one inch of snow is also possible in some areas.

Forecasters warn that even minimal ice accumulation could make travel hazardous during the morning hours, particularly on mountain roads and untreated surfaces. Conditions are expected to improve by midday Sunday as temperatures rise above freezing and precipitation transitions to rain.

Motorists are urged to slow down, leave extra distance between vehicles, and use caution on I-76, U.S. 219, and Route 31, where icy patches may develop early.
