Southwestern Michigan Weather Alert: Areas Near I-69 Expect High Winds This Afternoon

Grand Rapids, MI – The US National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a severe weather alert for this afternoon and evening, specifically targeting areas near and east of I-69. Strong to severe storms are anticipated, with damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours posing the primary threats.

According to the National Weather Service, the window for severe weather is between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions. While tornadoes and large hail are not expected, isolated thunderstorms could still bring hazardous conditions.

Areas near and east of I-69 are at the greatest risk. Damaging wind gusts can lead to power outages and property damage, while heavy downpours could cause localized flooding. The weather service advises securing outdoor objects, staying indoors during the storms, and being prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.
