ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – Bitter cold will settle across western and southern Wyoming overnight, with a Freeze Warning in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday and another round of freezing temperatures possible Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.

Lows are expected to dip as cold as 25°F in the Upper Wind River Basin near Dubois and into the upper 20s across the Cody Foothills, Green River, Rock Springs, and Flaming Gorge areas. According to the NWS, the chill could damage unprotected pipes and end the growing season across much of Sweetwater and Fremont counties.

Residents are urged to drain sprinkler systems, cover outdoor faucets, and bring plants and pets indoors. Drivers should also watch for patches of frost or thin ice early Monday, especially along I-80 and U.S. 191 where cold air pools in valleys.

A Freeze Watch is also in effect for late Monday night into Tuesday morning as calm winds and clear skies allow another round of subfreezing temperatures.
