La Crosse, WI – Wisconsin residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions today as a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. Monday. A mix of light snow and freezing drizzle is expected across portions of central, southwest, and west-central Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service, areas north of Interstate 94 could see slick spots early this morning due to untreated roads and a wintry mix. For counties including La Crosse, Monroe, Juneau, and Vernon, the advisory begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until mid-afternoon. Accumulations of up to one inch of snow and a glaze of ice are anticipated.

The advisory also extends to Clark and Taylor counties, where snow and ice accumulations could create hazardous conditions throughout the morning. Travelers should reduce speed, allow extra time for commutes, and remain vigilant on untreated roads.

Meteorologists note that an influx of drier air has decreased the likelihood of widespread freezing drizzle. However, intermittent icy patches remain a concern. Surface temperatures near freezing this morning may create temporary hazards on less-traveled routes.

Officials recommend visiting 511wi.gov for up-to-date road conditions before heading out. Residents are also encouraged to prepare vehicles with ice scrapers, de-icer, and emergency supplies.
