Blacksburg, VA – Southwest Virginia will see another stretch of refreshingly cool and dry weather today and tonight as high pressure dominates the region. Afternoon highs will stay in the upper 70s to low 80s from Roanoke down through Danville, making for an ideal summer day for outdoor plans or travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, overnight lows will dip into the mid to upper 50s for much of the New River and Roanoke valleys, with a few rural spots falling to the low 50s—well below typical August temperatures.

Residents from Wytheville to Lynchburg can expect a wedge of crisp, dry air to linger, keeping humidity low and skies mostly clear. The cool pattern should limit air conditioning use and provide good sleeping weather, but locals are urged to keep light jackets handy for early morning or late-night hours, especially in higher elevations.

Travel conditions remain favorable with no significant weather hazards through Saturday, and the dry air is expected to persist into the first part of the weekend. Further advisories or weather updates will be issued if any changes develop.
