Hamilton, Ohio – Heavy rain is soaking much of Ohio and the Tri-State region, raising the risk of flooding in Butler County and beyond through Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, a Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon for large portions of southwest Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky. Rainfall totals between 2 and 3 inches are expected by Wednesday morning, with locally higher amounts possible along a narrow west-to-east corridor. Counties under the watch in Ohio include Butler, Hamilton, Clermont, Warren, Greene, Montgomery, and Ross, among others.
Radar early Tuesday afternoon showed steady bands of rain stretching from Dayton through Cincinnati and into Portsmouth. In Butler County, communities such as Hamilton, Fairfield, Oxford, and Middletown could see creeks and low-lying roads take on water if heavier downpours persist. Saturated soil increases the risk of rapid runoff into the Great Miami River and its tributaries.
Drivers should avoid water-covered roads and allow extra travel time, especially along Interstate 75, U.S. 127, and State Route 4. Residents in flood-prone areas should clear storm drains, charge devices, and stay alert for possible Flood Warnings if conditions worsen.
The heaviest rain is expected to taper later Wednesday, but additional advisories could be issued if rivers continue to rise.
