CINCINNATI, Ohio – Heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms are expected to soak much of southwest and central Ohio tonight through Tuesday, with some areas near and south of the Ohio River potentially seeing over 2 inches of rain. The National Weather Service in Wilmington warns that localized flooding could occur, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are likely across much of the region, including Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus. Areas such as Carrollton, Versailles, and Falmouth could see the highest amounts, where rain may persist into early Wednesday. Scattered showers are possible this afternoon before heavier rain develops overnight.
Drivers should watch for ponding on roads and slower travel times during Tuesday’s morning commute. The weather service advises avoiding flood-prone routes and keeping an eye on rising creeks and streams along the Ohio River basin.
Temperatures will remain above normal through today before cooling off midweek as the system moves east. Additional advisories may be issued if flooding worsens.
