Wilmington, Ohio – Tuesday — The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Flood Watch for portions of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana through Wednesday afternoon as 2 to 3 inches of rain move across the region.
The watch includes counties in southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana, including Hamilton, Montgomery, Butler, Warren, Clermont, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Dearborn, and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service, soils remain saturated, increasing the risk that excessive rainfall could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying or flood-prone locations.
Rainfall totals through Wednesday morning are expected to range between 2 and 3 inches, with locally higher amounts possible along a narrow west-to-east corridor. Slightly lower totals are possible along the northern and southern edges of the watch area.
Cities under the watch include Cincinnati, Dayton, Hamilton, Middletown, Wilmington, Chillicothe, Portsmouth, Florence, Covington, Newport, Richmond, and Lawrenceburg.
Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to monitor updated forecasts and be prepared to act if Flood Warnings are issued. Officials advise clearing storm drains where safe and avoiding travel through water-covered roadways.
Additional updates are expected as rainfall continues overnight into Wednesday.
