Wilmington, OH – Rain-soaked roads and thunder rumble across much of southwest and central Ohio early Tuesday, but relief is on the way. After several days of widespread showers, the region is set to dry out starting Wednesday, with a burst of classic fall sunshine returning by Thursday, October 9.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, 1 to 2 inches of rain are expected Tuesday morning across parts of central and southern Ohio, including I-71 and U.S. Route 68 corridors. Drivers should expect ponding on rural routes and slower commutes early in the day. The good news: skies begin clearing late Tuesday night, leading into a sunny, cooler stretch through the weekend.

By Wednesday, high pressure builds across the Ohio Valley. Highs reach the mid-60s with clear skies and light winds—ideal for outdoor cleanup or early Halloween decorating. Thursday through Sunday brings a true fall feel: crisp mornings near 40°F and sunny afternoons around 70°F.

Those visiting local pumpkin patches, corn mazes, or Caesar Creek State Park will find nearly perfect weather conditions heading into the weekend.

No severe weather or frost is expected through Monday, though early next week could bring the season’s first chilly mornings.
