Wilmington, OH – A cold, calm night is ahead for much of southwest and central Ohio, with near-freezing temperatures expected to bring widespread frost and possible freeze conditions, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington.

Forecasters report that clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to fall into the low 30s overnight Thursday, with some rural areas likely dipping just below freezing. Cities including Dayton, Columbus, and Chillicothe could all experience frost formation before sunrise.

According to the NWS, similar conditions are expected again Friday night, with lows hovering between 30 and 33 degrees across much of the region. The agency advises residents to cover sensitive vegetation and bring potted plants indoors to prevent damage.

Daytime highs will remain cool through the end of the week, staying in the 50s under mostly sunny skies. A gradual warm-up is expected over the weekend, though nights will continue to feel chilly.

Motorists are reminded to use caution on early morning commutes, as patchy frost may develop on windshields and bridges.
