Springfield, Mo. – Southwest Missouri will see a shift from sunny skies to stormy conditions this week, with the best chance for widespread rain arriving late Wednesday into Thursday. Cooler air will settle in behind the system, keeping highs below normal through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, scattered showers could begin as early as Wednesday evening, with rain chances increasing to 60–90 percent overnight into Thursday. The southwest part of the state will be hit hardest, with locally heavy downpours possible. Thursday’s highs will only reach the upper 60s to low 70s.
By Friday, skies remain mostly cloudy, but temperatures will rebound slightly into the upper 70s. Roads across Greene, Christian, and surrounding counties may be slick Thursday morning, and drivers are urged to slow down during commutes.
