Marshall, MN – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for parts of southwestern Minnesota until 3 a.m. Wednesday, with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls reporting continued gusty winds and light snow overnight.

The warning covers Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, and Cottonwood Counties, including the cities of Marshall, Windom, and Slayton. While additional snowfall is expected to be less than a half inch, winds could still gust up to 45 mph, leading to briefly reduced visibility and slippery road conditions.

Forecasters say visibility could drop to around a half mile at times due to blowing snow, and fallen tree branches remain a concern as winds continue into early morning. Travel conditions may improve by sunrise, but drivers are urged to remain cautious, particularly on untreated rural roads and open stretches where drifting snow is possible.

The storm is expected to exit the region later Wednesday morning, allowing for calmer and colder conditions into the Thanksgiving holiday.

Motorists can check current travel conditions by calling 511 or visiting the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s website for live road updates.
