Lake Charles, LA – After several days of warm and dry weather across southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas, a developing system is expected to bring thunderstorms starting Friday and continuing into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, isolated to scattered showers may begin as early as Thursday night in some areas, with rain chances increasing significantly on Friday. Forecasts currently show a 30% to 80% chance of thunderstorms on Friday, continuing into Saturday, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. Overnight lows will remain mild, in the low to mid-60s.

Daytime highs through the week will range from the upper 70s to low 90s, which is near or slightly above seasonal averages. Fog remains a concern early in the week, particularly in the mornings, but the primary threat heading into the weekend is the potential for localized flooding and reduced visibility due to storms.

Residents in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Beaumont, and surrounding areas should monitor local forecasts and prepare for changing weather conditions. Motorists are urged to use caution during foggy periods and when roads become slick during rain events. Emergency kits and flashlights are recommended as a precaution in case of power outages.
