Lake Charles, La. – A stretch of wet and stormy weather is underway across southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas, with up to 3 inches of rainfall expected by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, daily rounds of thunderstorms—some strong—will continue through Sunday as an upper-level disturbance lifts northeast from Texas. Widespread rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches are likely, with higher amounts near Beaumont (2.6″) and Lake Charles (1.56″). Localized flash flooding could develop, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas.

From Lafayette to Baton Rouge, rain chances will stay high—between 60% and 100%—through Friday, with slightly lower but still elevated risks over the weekend. Daily highs will remain in the upper 80s to low 90s, keeping the atmosphere primed for afternoon and evening storms.

Drivers should watch for slick roads, especially during peak commute hours, and avoid driving through flooded streets. Residents are encouraged to clear drains, monitor local alerts, and charge electronics in case of isolated outages.

The unsettled pattern should ease early next week, but more scattered storms are still possible. Weather alerts remain in effect through Sunday evening.
