Dodge City, Kansas – Tornadoes, giant hail, and 70 mph winds could slam parts of southwest and central Kansas this afternoon, with dangerous storms likely from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, storms are expected to erupt mid-afternoon across an area stretching from Liberal to Salina. Areas including Dodge City, Pratt, and Great Bend sit under a Level 4 “moderate risk” — meaning scattered to numerous severe storms are possible, some producing hail up to 4 inches wide and tornadoes strong enough to snap trees or roll vehicles.

By 4 p.m., roads like U.S. 183 and 50 may see reduced visibility or wind-blown debris. Local officials are urging residents to bring in anything not bolted down — trampolines, lawn furniture, even garbage bins. Several Sunday events have already been delayed, and more disruptions are likely if warnings are issued.
