Dodge City, KS – A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for southwest and central Kansas from midnight to 11 a.m. Friday, with wind chills dropping as low as -18°F.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City warns that cities such as Garden City, Liberal, and Hays could experience frostbite in less than 30 minutes on exposed skin.

Officials recommend limiting outdoor exposure, dressing in layers, and ensuring outdoor animals have adequate shelterPipes should be insulated to prevent freezing, and space heaters should be used cautiously to avoid fire risks.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly Friday afternoon, but the region could see another wave of Arctic air next week.
