Paducah, Kentucky – Thunderstorm chances and sweltering heat are set to intensify across western Kentucky and southwest Indiana through the weekend, with heat index values nearing 100 degrees by Friday and Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, scattered storms are possible today into Friday, with a 10–25% chance primarily during the afternoon and evening hours. While today’s threat remains isolated, activity is expected to increase by Saturday and Sunday, when storm chances climb to 40–60% across the region.

High temperatures will range from 88 to 94 degrees through the weekend, but humidity will push heat index values to around 100°F Friday and Saturday. This combination of heat and storms will impact cities including Paducah, Owensboro, and Murray, along with Evansville and surrounding communities in southwest Indiana.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated, and use air conditioning when possible. If storms develop, expect brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning, especially Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

This is typical midsummer weather for the region, but prolonged exposure can still pose risks. Thunderstorm chances remain elevated into next week, and heat advisories may be issued if conditions persist.
