Boise, Idaho – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. MST Tuesday for mountain areas of southwest and west-central Idaho and southern Malheur County, Oregon, where accumulating snow and gusty winds are expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, a cold front will bring 2 to 6 inches of snow to most mountain locations, with 6 to 12 inches possible above 6,000 feet. Lower elevations across southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon could see 1 to 3 inches of snow, while some valleys may receive less than an inch.

Wind gusts up to 35 mph are forecast in higher terrain, potentially creating blowing snow and reduced visibility. Affected areas include the Boise Mountains, West Central Mountains, Owyhee Mountains and portions of southern Malheur County.

Roadways, especially mountain passes and higher elevation routes, may become slick and snow-covered overnight. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time and check Idaho 511 or Oregon road condition updates before traveling.

The advisory is set to expire at 8 a.m. Tuesday, though lingering slick spots may persist into the morning commute.

Travelers and early morning commuters should prepare for winter driving conditions across impacted areas.
