Grand Junction, CO – Residents in southwest Colorado, especially across the San Juan Mountains and nearby valleys, should prepare for another wave of heavy rainfall from late Monday into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Grand Junction. A Flood Watch remains in effect through noon Tuesday, as saturated soils and elevated river levels heighten the risk of flooding.
According to the NWS, a surge of tropical moisture moving in from the south will bring 1–2 inches of rain, with localized totals up to 3–4 inches possible. Thunderstorms may accompany the system, potentially leading to localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying or burn scar areas.
Officials warn that rivers may rise quickly, with flood impacts potentially continuing into Wednesday even after rainfall subsides. The NWS also noted that while additional precipitation is possible midweek, confidence in that forecast remains low.
Travelers and residents are urged to monitor local alerts and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Updated information is available through the National Weather Service Grand Junction website and official social media channels.
