Southwest & Central Virginia Winter Weather Advisory: 1–3 Inches of Snow Expected Monday

Roanoke, VA – The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued and expanded a Winter Weather Advisory for much of southwest, west-central, and south-central Virginia, northwest North Carolina, and portions of southeast West Virginia, in effect from 1 a.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Forecasters expect snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts possible along higher elevations of the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains. The snow is expected to develop overnight into early Monday morning, continuing through the day before tapering off late Monday night.

The advisory includes major areas such as Roanoke, Lynchburg, Blacksburg, Danville, Bedford, Pulaski, Martinsville, Galax, and Bluefield, as well as Boone, Sparta, and Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

The Monday morning and evening commutes are likely to be affected by snow-covered and slippery roads, especially in mountain passes and rural routes. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra time, and use caution during travel.
