Dodge City, KS – The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued multiple freeze alerts for southwest and central Kansas, warning of two consecutive nights of sub-freezing temperatures expected to impact the region.

A Freeze Warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, covering Pawnee, Ford, Edwards, Kiowa, Seward, Meade, and Clark counties, including cities such as Dodge City, Liberal, Ashland, Larned, and Greensburg. Temperatures could dip to around 28 degrees overnight.

Following that, a Freeze Watch has been issued from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning, expanding east into Pratt, Comanche, Barber, and Stafford counties, where lows in the mid- to upper 20s are expected.

According to the Weather Service, frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, harm sensitive vegetation, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, insulate pipes, and bring pets indoors before temperatures plummet midweek.

Meteorologists say this marks the first widespread hard freeze of the season, signaling a definitive shift toward winter conditions for western and central Kansas.
