Shreveport, LA – An overnight frost advisory has been issued for Sevier County, Arkansas, and McCurtain County, Oklahoma, as temperatures are forecast to fall near 36 degrees early Friday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport announced the advisory Thursday afternoon, warning of potential frost formation between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. CDT Friday.
According to the NWS, residents in De Queen, Idabel, and Broken Bow should expect chilly conditions that could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation. The agency advises covering tender plants or moving potted vegetation indoors before nightfall.
While temperatures are not expected to drop below freezing, the combination of clear skies and calm winds will allow frost to develop across low-lying and rural areas.
This marks one of the first frost events of the season for parts of southwest Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma, signaling the approach of cooler November weather.
