Beckley, WV – The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia, with accumulating snow expected from 7 PM Thursday through 10 AM Friday.

According to the NWS, areas including Beckley, Fayetteville, Welch, Grundy, Logan, and Williamson may see 1 to 4 inches of snow, with the highest totals across the higher terrain of Raleigh, Fayette, and Dickenson Counties.

Snow is forecast to begin Thursday evening, continuing overnight before tapering off mid-morning Friday. Roads are expected to become slick and snow-covered, particularly on untreated surfaces, bridges, and mountain passes. Commuters should anticipate delays and reduced visibility during the Friday morning drive.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution. For the latest travel conditions, drivers can call 511 or visit their state’s online travel portal. Additional updates are available through the National Weather Service Charleston (RLX) website and social media feeds.

Forecasters note temperatures will remain near freezing, allowing snow to stick quickly overnight before conditions gradually improve by midday Friday.
