Milwaukee, WI – A Freeze Warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday across much of southern and eastern Wisconsin, as temperatures are forecast to drop into the upper 20s, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.

The warning covers a broad area including Milwaukee, Waukesha, Madison, Kenosha, Racine, Fond du Lac, and Janesville, along with surrounding counties such as Dane, Columbia, Dodge, Green, Rock, and Ozaukee.

According to the NWS, frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover or bring in outdoor plants and drain hoses or sprinkler systems before nightfall.

A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday for parts of south-central Wisconsin, including Madison, Janesville, and Monroe. That will transition to a hard freeze overnight Friday, marking the likely end of the growing season for much of the state.

After the freeze, temperatures are expected to rebound slightly into the 50s Friday afternoon, though another chilly night could follow into the weekend.
