Milwaukee, Wis. – Torrential rain is expected to soak southern Wisconsin from 3 p.m. to midnight Friday, threatening low-lying roads and urban areas with localized flooding.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, the greatest chance for 1 inch or more of rainfall centers along and south of the I-94 corridor—including Racine, Kenosha, Janesville, and Monroe—where chances of exceeding that threshold range from 54% to 82%. Areas like Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Whitewater could also see totals approach or exceed 2 inches by early Saturday.
Janesville is expected to peak with a 66% chance of over an inch of rain, with rain intensities climbing sharply around 6 p.m. Kenosha follows with an 80% rainfall chance by 9 p.m. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and allow extra time for evening travel.
With saturated ground from earlier storms, additional rainfall could easily overwhelm drainage systems. Residents in flood-prone zones should prepare by clearing gutters, securing valuables, and keeping phones charged.
Rain chances will persist into early Saturday, especially in the southeast, and additional advisories may follow depending on storm development Friday afternoon.
