Milwaukee, WI – Southern Wisconsin is expected to see its first measurable snowfall of the season this weekend as a rain–snow mix moves through the area Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.
Forecasters say precipitation will begin as rain Saturday afternoon before transitioning to all snow shortly after sunset as temperatures dip below freezing. Light accumulations are expected, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces, with totals ranging from a dusting to around one inch in some areas.
The greatest potential for measurable snowfall will be across south-central to southeastern Wisconsin, including portions north of Madison and toward the Kettle Moraine region. Lakeshore areas, including Milwaukee and Racine, may see mostly rain with limited accumulation.
Any lingering snow is expected to taper off from west to east late Saturday night. While widespread travel impacts are not expected, slick spots may develop on untreated or elevated roads as temperatures drop into the upper 20s overnight.
Residents are advised to use caution during the evening commute and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions as the season’s first snow arrives.
