Milwaukee, WI – The city of Milwaukee and much of southern Wisconsin are facing a hot and humid day, with temperatures expected to soar into the mid to upper 90s. While the region has dodged a Heat Advisory, the combination of high heat and humidity will make for an uncomfortable day.
According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan, although thunderstorm chances have significantly decreased, a lingering hot and humid airmass is in place. The heat index, which reflects how hot it feels when humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature, is expected to climb to the mid-90s throughout the day, with little relief provided by light winds.
The forecast shows Milwaukee reaching a high of 87°F by late afternoon, with peak heat index values occurring between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Residents are urged to practice heat safety by staying hydrated, limiting strenuous outdoor activities, and checking on vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and those without air conditioning.
Looking ahead, the weather is expected to cool slightly on Thursday and Friday, with highs in the lower 80s and a chance of showers, offering some relief from the heat. However, temperatures will rise again over the weekend, with Saturday reaching a high of 86°F.
