Rutland, Vermont – Snow will continue to fall across much of Vermont today, with the greatest impacts focused on southern portions of the state where several inches of accumulation are expected before conditions gradually improve this evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, light to occasionally moderate snow will persist through much of the day, tapering off later tonight. Southern Vermont remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m., where total snowfall amounts of 2 to 6 inches are expected. Higher elevations are most likely to see the upper end of that range.
Communities including Rutland, Killington, Springfield, Ludlow, and surrounding mountain areas can expect periods of steady snow that may reduce visibility and create slick road conditions. Snow-covered and untreated roads, especially along Route 4, Route 7, and secondary mountain roads, could make travel difficult at times.
Farther north, snowfall amounts will generally be lighter, but even modest accumulations may still lead to slippery travel, particularly during the afternoon and early evening hours. Temperatures remain cold enough for snow to stick on road surfaces, bridges, and shaded areas.
Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time if heading out today. Snow will gradually diminish this evening as the system moves out, but lingering slick spots may remain overnight. No additional advisories are currently planned beyond tonight, though travelers should continue to monitor updates in case snow lingers longer than expected.
