Little Rock, Ark. – A dangerous stretch of summer heat will grip Arkansas this week, with highs climbing into the upper 90s by Friday and continuing through the weekend. Heat index values may exceed 100°F in parts of central and southern Arkansas, making outdoor activity potentially hazardous by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, temperatures will steadily rise each day, starting with highs near 89°F Monday and peaking at 97°F on both Friday and Saturday. While humidity remains moderate early in the week, moisture levels will climb midweek, raising the heat index and increasing the risk of heat-related illness. Winds will stay light and variable, providing little relief.

This heatwave is expected to last through at least Sunday. Residents are urged to limit outdoor work during peak hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. No rain is expected through the weekend, but updated advisories may follow if the heat index exceeds critical thresholds.
