Southern Oregon Weather Alert: Visibility Near Zero, Gusts Up to 50 MPH Expected

Medford, OR – try aDrivers across southern Oregon and far northern California are waking up to dense fog this morning and should prepare for a transition to strong winds later today, according to multiple alerts from the National Weather Service in Medford.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday for much of the Rogue Valley, including Medford, Central Point, and Rogue River, where visibility may drop below one-quarter mile along Interstate 5 and Highways 238, 62, and 140. Similar conditions are reported through Roseburg, Grants Pass, and Walla Walla, with multiple advisories extending north into Lane County and the Blue Mountain foothills.

By late afternoon, conditions will reverse as a Wind Advisory takes hold from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday across southern Jackson County, including Ashland to Medford. Forecasters expect southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, potentially leading to downed limbs, scattered power outages, and difficult driving for high-profile vehicles.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance in foggy areas this morning, and to secure outdoor items before winds strengthen this evening.
