Oregon’s Rogue Valley is under a Winter Weather Alert as snow begins to stack up across Jackson County. Wet flakes are mixing with rain in Medford this morning, and temperatures sit near 34 degrees at Rogue Valley International Airport.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect below 2000 feet through 10 a.m. Thursday. A Winter Storm Warning continues for higher elevations above 2000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected in lower elevations, with 4 to 12 inches in the mountains, including areas near Prospect and Butte Falls.
Drivers along I-5, Highways 62, 140, 238, and 227 should prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Jacksonville Hill on Highway 238 could turn especially slick. Snow levels fluctuate near valley floors at times, which means bursts of heavier snow may briefly coat roadways before melting.
Plan extra time if traveling this afternoon or Wednesday morning. Traction can drop fast under heavier bands. Even light snow followed by clearing can refreeze, creating flash-freeze spots before sunrise.
Snow showers continue today with highs near 39 degrees. Additional accumulation is possible tonight into Wednesday morning. Wednesday stays active with rain and snow likely and highs in the upper 30s. By Wednesday night, snow levels hover around 1500 feet, keeping travel concerns elevated.
Thursday brings another round of snow before 10 a.m., then rain and snow showers. Highs remain near 39 degrees. Friday trends slightly drier with highs around 40, though light snow remains possible early.
The weekend turns milder. Highs climb toward the upper 40s Saturday and near 50 Sunday with rain. Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across much of Oregon. A warming trend into next week hints at early spring warmth after this stretch of winter weather.
Five Day Outlook for Medford, Oregon:
Wednesday: Snow/rain likely, high 39.
Thursday: Snow before 10 a.m., high 39.
Friday: Slight chance snow/rain, high 40.
Saturday: Rain, high 47.
