Grants Pass, OR – Strong winds will sweep across southern Oregon ridges and valleys beginning Sunday afternoon, with gusts reaching 45 mph expected to persist through late Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday for eastern Curry County and western Josephine County. The alert includes wind-aligned valleys west of Highway 199, as well as the perimeters of the Moon Complex and Kelsey Peak wildfires.

Communities around Grants Pass and Cave Junction may see gusty conditions that could down tree limbs, topple weakened wildfire snags, and cause scattered power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should use extra caution along Highway 199, where crosswinds may affect travel.

Officials warn that many trees still hold foliage, adding extra stress under strong wind. Loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, tents, and trash bins should be secured to prevent damage.

The advisory remains in place through Monday morning, with conditions expected to ease by midday.
