Medford, OR – Southern Oregon will bake under dangerous heat Sunday as temperatures climb to 108°F, with extreme heat warnings in effect through Monday evening. The National Weather Service warns that prolonged exposure can cause heat-related illness in minutes, particularly for those without air conditioning.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, Sunday will be mostly sunny with light winds, offering little relief from the oppressive heat. Monday and Tuesday will remain well above 100°F before a noticeable cooldown arrives midweek. Residents in Jackson County, including Medford, Ashland, and Central Point, should plan for limited outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated.

The combination of high temperatures and warm overnight lows will prevent adequate cooling, especially in urban neighborhoods. Vulnerable groups such as young children, the elderly, and outdoor workers should take extra precautions. Cooling centers may open if conditions persist.

Heat risk will ease by Wednesday, when highs dip into the 80s, but forecasters caution another round of heat could return later in the month.
