Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a High Wind Watch for parts of southern Oregon, warning of strong and potentially damaging winds expected Wednesday, November 12, through Wednesday night as the next Pacific storm system moves through the region.
Forecasters say the strongest winds will affect the Shasta Valley and areas east of the Cascades, where southerly winds of 30 to 40 mph could gust as high as 60 mph. A Wind Advisory may also be issued for the Rogue Valley, including Ashland, Medford, and Klamath Falls, where gusty winds could cause tree damage and localized power outages.
The NWS cautions that travel may become hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles along Highways 97, 140, and I-5, and urges residents to secure outdoor items such as decorations, trash bins, and patio furniture.
Winds are expected to diminish by early Thursday morning as the system exits the region, giving way to calmer and cooler conditions later in the week.
