Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a multi-hazard weekend forecast for southern Oregon, warning of heavy rain, powerful winds, and mountain snowfall from Friday through Sunday night.

Forecasters say several fronts will move through the region, bringing 2 to 5 inches of rainfall across Coos, Curry, Douglas, Josephine, and western Siskiyou counties. Urban and small-stream flooding, as well as ponding on roadways, will be possible during periods of heavier rain.

Meanwhile, strong southerly winds are expected along the southern Oregon coast, Shasta Valley, and east of the Cascades, with sustained speeds of 25–35 mph and gusts reaching 55–65 mph. The NWS warns of potential power outages, fallen trees, and difficult driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.

As snow levels drop Saturday into Sunday, accumulating snowfall is likely across the southern Oregon Cascades, including Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Siskiyou Summit. Totals could reach 8–18 inches in higher terrain above 4,500 feet, making mountain travel hazardous.

Drivers are urged to plan for reduced visibility, slick mountain passes, and strong crosswinds. The NWS advises leaving extra travel time and securing outdoor objects ahead of the approaching system.
