Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a High Wind Warning for the south-central Oregon coast, including Curry and Coos counties, from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Forecasters expect southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph along coastal headlands and exposed areas of Highway 101. Communities such as Bandon, Coos Bay, Gold Beach, Reedsport, and Port Orford are all under the warning.
According to the weather service, the powerful winds may damage property, topple trees, and cause power outages across coastal neighborhoods. Travel could become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles such as trucks and RVs traveling along the coast.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind hours, and monitor local forecasts for updates.
The strongest gusts are expected mid-morning through Saturday afternoon, before winds gradually weaken into the evening.
