Medford, Ore. – After a warm, sunny Wednesday, residents in southern Oregon should brace for a return of rain and cooler air as showers move into the Rogue Valley beginning late Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a weak front will bring increasing clouds Thursday afternoon, with a 40% chance of rain by nightfall. Rain becomes likely Friday and Friday night, when precipitation chances climb to 70%, delivering up to a quarter inch of rainfall. Highs will drop from near 79°F Wednesday to the mid-60s by Friday and around 60°F through the weekend.
Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas counties can expect slick roads and reduced visibility during heavier showers, especially along Interstate 5 and Highway 62. Light winds are expected to shift from northwest to southwest as the system moves inland.
Residents are advised to check travel conditions, keep rain gear handy, and allow extra driving time during commutes. Showers may linger into Sunday before conditions begin to dry out early next week.
Rain chances remain in the forecast through Sunday night, with gradual clearing expected Monday.
