Medford, OR – A powerful winter storm is moving through southern Oregon and northern California, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions to start the first week of February. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect through Monday at 4 p.m., with up to 25 inches of snow expectedin higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service, the most significant impacts will be felt Monday morning, especially along Siskiyou Summit, Highway 3, and the Warner Mountains, where snowfall will make travel difficult or impossible. Winds up to 35 mphwill cause blowing snow, reducing visibility. Officials urge drivers to avoid unnecessary travel and keep emergency supplies in vehicles.

Five-Day Forecast for Southern Oregon

Monday:Heavy snow continues, high near 30°F, wind gusts up to 35 mph.

Tuesday:Snow tapers off, mostly cloudy, highs in the low 30s.

Wednesday:Partly cloudy, highs in the upper 30s, calmer winds.

Thursday:Dry conditions return, highs in the low 40s.

Friday:Warmer, highs in the mid-40s, slight chance of rain.
