Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford has extended a Wind Advisory for portions of southern Oregon and northern California from 8 p.m. Friday through 8 p.m. Saturday, warning of gusty southwest winds up to 55 mph that could make driving difficult and lead to scattered power outages.

The advisory includes Lake and Klamath counties in Oregon—particularly around Winter Rim and higher terrain areas—as well as Modoc and Central Siskiyou counties in northern California, including Weed.

Forecasters expect sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph, with the strongest gusts Saturday morning through afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, loose outdoor items may become airborne, and drivers of high-profile vehicles should use extra caution on Highways 97, 140, and U.S. 395.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and trash bins, and to prepare for brief power interruptions as winds increase. Conditions should gradually improve by Saturday evening.
