Klamath Falls, OR – Residents across southern Oregon and northern California should prepare for a chilly night as the National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory effective 8 p.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, temperatures are expected to dip as low as 34 degrees across the Klamath Basin and neighboring counties. Communities at risk include Klamath Falls, Chiloquin, and Keno in Oregon, as well as Alturas, Tulelake, Dorris, and Likely in Modoc and Siskiyou counties in California.
The advisory warns that frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered overnight. Gardeners and homeowners are urged to take immediate precautions, such as covering plants or moving potted flowers and vegetables indoors.
Cold weather impacts are most likely in low-lying and rural areas, where frost tends to form more quickly. Forecasters note that while temperatures are not expected to dip below freezing, even light frost can cause significant harm to unprotected crops and garden plants.
This advisory marks an early seasonal reminder for residents along the Oregon-California border to prepare for cooler fall nights.
