Medford, OR – A powerful windstorm is set to impact coastal and inland areas of southern Oregon and northern California on Monday, with wind gusts reaching up to 65 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, a High Wind Warning is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. PST Monday for the Curry, Coos, and Douglas county coasts, including Brookings, Gold Beach, Port Orford, Bandon, and North Bend. Winds are expected to be 35 to 45 mph, with stronger gusts near headlands and exposed areas along Highway 101.
In California’s Central Siskiyou County, including Weed and portions of Interstate 5 and Highway 97, winds of 35 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Farther inland, parts of Lake, Klamath, and Modoc counties will see gusts up to 65 mph from Monday morning through early Tuesday. Areas impacted include Summer Lake, Paisley, and portions of Highways 395, 140, and 31.
Residents should prepare for possible power outages and hazardous travel conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles. Secure loose objects, watch for falling debris, and avoid unnecessary travel.
